लॉकहीड मार्टिन का यह प्रस्ताव केवल विमान बेचने तक सीमित नहीं है। कंपनी ने साफ संकेत दिए हैं कि यदि भारत इस प्रोजेक्ट में उसके C-130J सुपर हरक्यूलिस विमान को चुनता है, तो वह भारत में ही निर्माण, असेंबली और सप्लाई चेन विकसित करेगी। यानी विमान भारत में बनेंगे और यहीं से दुनिया के अन्य देशों को भी सप्लाई किए जा सकेंगे।
यह सोच भारत की ‘मेक इन इंडिया’ और ‘आत्मनिर्भर भारत’ नीति से सीधे मेल खाती है, जहां रक्षा क्षेत्र में विदेशी निर्भरता कम करने पर लगातार ज़ोर दिया जा रहा है।
क्यों खास है C-130J सुपर हरक्यूलिस
C-130J सुपर हरक्यूलिस कोई नया या अनपरीक्षित विमान नहीं है। यह दुनिया के सबसे भरोसेमंद सैन्य ट्रांसपोर्ट विमानों में गिना जाता है। भारतीय वायु सेना पहले से ही इसका इस्तेमाल कर रही है, खासकर विशेष सैन्य अभियानों, आपदा राहत, दुर्गम इलाकों में सप्लाई और तेज़ ट्रूप मूवमेंट के लिए।
